White Center is a prominent neighborhood of West Seattle. It too is in transition with some new construction, but which maintains its culture and vibe that so many know it for.
From their city website they describe themselves,
"'Takes all kinds,' they say, and so does White Center. Artists, grocers, tradespeople, veterans, and families from around the world call White Center home. We work hard, and then we play hard at urban parks, neighborhood nightlife, and community festivals.
Diamonds-in-the-rough stud our business district with world cuisine, quality imports, specialty produce, unique salons and boutiques, and a complete selection of professional services. We've even got our own Southgate Roller Rink for rink rats of all ages."
From roller derby, to an array of eclectic restaurants, to its historical roots that go back to World War II from which many speculate it got its nickname Rat City for the Relocation and Training Center it was home to, White Center is notable place to live. Just north of Burien, it is well located between West Seattle and Burien both of which have their own character.
